This weekend (25/02/2017 – 26/02/2017) we saw the very first PCL EU event come to Monolith. The best teams in Europe (as well as some hopeful North American teams!) battled it out over 2 days of highly intensive competitive action to become the first PCL EU Champions.
16 teams took to the stage on day one, hoping to qualify for the GSL group stages later in the day.
See how it all unfolded here:
With the qualifying stages complete, both Oxygen teams (EU & NA) breezed through their first match to reach that all important group stage. Oxygen NA were put into Group A to face off against Russian giants Nettle and Oxygen EU were to be matched up with powerhouse Team Carbon over in Group B. While both teams were bested by these two, they still qualified for day 2 and reached the Semi-finals as the second seed.
Day 2 was left with only 4 teams which may come to no surprise for some. Oxygen NA & EU, Team Carbon and Nettle. After 2 long and hard fought best of 3 showdowns, both Oxygen teams came out on top, reaching the Grand-finals and making it an all Oxygen derby. While both teams showed their strengths on the battleground there could only be one winner and Team Oxygen NA were crowed PCL EU Champions.
For the first time ever, both Oxygen teams managed to face-off in the finals of an event, and with both PCL NA and PCL EU titles under their belt, the top spot in competitive Paragon undoubtedly belongs to our American cowboys with Team Oxygen EU claiming the #2 spot.
In two weeks the PCL will return with its next NA event, and Team Oxygen NA will be looking to defend their championship. Catch the tournament live starting on 11th March 2017 here:
